Songs for Spring

Friends are Coming Back – original post with resources HERE

Spring is in the air! Here in Williams Treaty Territory, the snow is almost all gone, and we have been hearing a chorus of songs growing over the last little while. For me, there is nothing like witnessing the arrival of the first Robin of Spring. There is something about that moment that brings so much joy!

“Friends are Coming Back” is a song that I wrote for these days. It is a fun singalong to do with children, and it is meant to support you in exploring the changing seasons. The tune guides you to listen to the calls of all the feathered friends who are returning, and to sing along with them! I wrote a blog post specifically about this song HERE, where you will find a free downloadable lyrics and chords sheet, to help you sing along!

There are lots of opportunities for us to sing together in the coming weeks! Please check out the EVENTS page to find out where we can connect. I’m particularly excited about two events, which I will highlight here:

Singing in the Spring” is happening at Kingston Forest and Nature School on Saturday, May 6th. I’m so very excited about this event, as I will be performing a full show in the land! I have been collaborating with Monica Miller and Leah Kiil to create this event, where there will be the opportunity for nature play and then a show! I hope you will consider joining us, and if you have friends and family in the area, please help spread the news!

“Spring Celebration” is happening at the Holland Landing Public Library on Tuesday, May 16th. This will be a sharing circle, hosted by Hayley Williamson, a member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island, and myself. We will centre Hayley’s voice, as we come together to celebrate the season. There will also be the opportunity for everyone to share, if they choose to, about what the season means to them, to their family and culture. I look forward to sharing a song of my own, and to learning more with everyone I share this beautiful land with! I hope you will consider joining us.

Finally, there is BIG NEWS coming! Stay tuned! I have something VERY EXCITING to share with you very soon!
