Songs for Spring – Part Two

A sweet moment of the land embracing water on a cold, rainy day!

It’s an exciting time of year to wander the land, here in Williams Treaty Territory. At every turn, there is new growth, new sounds, new life to take in. I find it wonderous how I find something new and delightful, almost every day.

I have a few songs that I like to sing around this time of year that I would like to share with you. I also have a lot of very exciting news this month, so please read to the end to find out some of the fun ways we can connect!

Songs

I hope you have been having fun with Friends are Coming Back! I suggested this one last post, and it is still a great time to be singing this one, as the air is simply full of so many sweet songs!

What Kind of Leaves is another one perfect for this time of year.  This one inspires children to make predictions about what they will see.  I like to sing this one before going for a wander, as it prompts us to look closely at all of the new growth that surrounds us.

The Robin Song can support children in learning about the beginning stages of life for the winged ones in our lives.  Last year I did a virtual series about this that demonstrates one way that I use songs to support inquiry.  This series offers the idea that we don’t always need to sing a whole song from start to finish, and that a song can be sung over the course of many weeks, if you like!
